Kailash Hostel wish lists –updated August 16 2011 (Passang)
The following is list of current “requirements” at the Kailash Hostel. We appreciate complete or partial sponsorship of any of the items on the wish list.
Fund for Library:US$8,650.00
Books for reading and studying are always in need. At the moment we have very small library at hostel where we have some story books which are donated by Room to Read. Most of the story books are for kids. We are in need of some story books and reference books for our older children at hostel.
School Bus-1 US$ 25,000.00
Our old bus is not in good condition as it is 20 years old. Every year we spend a significant amount of money on its maintainence and high risk for transporting 40 children daily to the schools and pick up from schools to te hostel. We are in need of your help for purchasing new bus.
Sponsorship Program:
A s we are planning to enroll more than 100 children at KAILASH Hostel, we are looking for the no of sponsors we need. So far we have 87 children inside Kailash Hostel and we need 13 children and sponsors in the beginning of 2012. The sponsorship fee each year will be $1400.00 and this fee would cover tuition fee, hostel expenses, textbooks, stationery, clothing, uniforms and etc.
Building Painting:
The walls outside the buildings are discolored and look blurring. They need to be painted. The cost for all three building is US$ 2,189.00 (Please look at Appendix- 1 for more details).
Window frames renovation and painting:
So far we have not done any kind of renovation of the windows, although there are some problems to close them. All the color in the window frames is gone. More than 5 windows need to be replaced and all of them require painting. The cost of this renovation is US$ 512.00 (Please look at Appendix- 2 for more details).
Sanitary equipments renovation:
The toilets in both girls and boys dormitories need to be repaired and some equipment need to be replaced. 6 to 8 equipments need to be changed and some of the toilet taps also need to be replaced. The cost for this renovation is US$ 460.00 (Please look at Appendix-3 for more details).
Water pumps and water tanks renovation:
Water is the main worry concerning our health. Two years ago we renovated the water filter and cleaned the water tank. We need to do it again. The total cost for this renovation is US$820.00 (Please look at Appendix-4 for more details).
Cow shelter renovation:
So far we have two milk cows and our children get fresh milk every day. The cows also help supporting the biogas PLANT and the vegetable farming. We are planning to make organic farming and, therefore, we need to have more cows. We need to expand the capacity of our current shelter from 2 to 5 cows. The cost of this construction is US$888.00 (Please look at Appendix-5 for more details).
School buses maintenance and painting:
Our first priority is the safety of our children when they are driven to school, for what we need to have buses in excellent conditions. Currently, we have two school buses. One is almost 10 years old (we bought it second hand and it was already 10 years old) and the other is 7 years old. Both need to be repainted and it would be ideal to replace the oldest one for a new one. Repainted cost is US$ 2,143.00 AND the cost of New one is US$ (Please look at Appendix-6 for details)
